Chapman is an attorney and was a founding member and Partner at Ethridge Law Group until transitioning to Of Counsel to pursue teaching full-time. Her practice focuses on civil defense litigation including construction defect; contract assessment; and insurance coverage disputes.
Prior to cofounding the private practice, Chapman worked as a civil litigation attorney at Carlock, Copeland & Stair (2013-2017). During her tenure at the firm, she served as a sexual assault and rape crisis victim advocate for People Against Rape (currently Tri-County S.P.E.A.K.S.) and as an adjunct at the Charleston School of Law and The Citadel.
Chapman has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a “South Carolina Rising Star” (2019-2022); has received the American College of Trial Lawyers’ Excellence in Trial Advocacy Award, South Carolina; the Charleston Law “Giving Back” Award for Outstanding Efforts in Public Service and Leadership; and has been named a Presidential Scholar by the Medical University of South Carolina.
As a professor of Legal Research, Analysis, and Writing, Chapman said she is committed to devoting her “time and talent to teaching the next generation of analytical thinkers and giving back to the community around me.”
Chapman is also an active member in the community including volunteer experience for the Ronald McDonald House, Lowcountry Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, and the South Carolina Reading Partners.
