Kimberly D. Phillips

Associate Professor of Law
Kimberly D. Phillips is an associate professor teaching Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, and Constitutional Law.  Her research interests include criminal law and criminal procedure constitutional law issues and mental health law.

Experience & Activities

Phillips began her teaching career at the Texas Tech University School of Law where she taught seven years and served on several committees including chairing the Honor Council Committee. Phillips has also served on several national committees, including those with the American Association of Law Schools and the Legal Writing Institute.

Prior to her teaching career, Phillips served as a Judge Advocate in the U.S. Navy’s Judge Advocate General Corps. She served as a defense counsel, legal assistance attorney, and a staff judge advocate for several Admirals, including the first native-American Admiral in the Navy.

Phillips graduated from Texas Tech University, Washburn University School of Law, and earned an LL.M. from Columbia University.  Phillips is a member of the Kansas, Oregon, and Texas bars.
