Adjunct Professor
Ben Pogue is an adjunct professor at Charleston School of Law. He currently works at the Law Office of Sean M. Wilson, focusing on injury and wrongful death litigation, as well as mediation.

Experience & Activities

Pogue is a certified mediator and arbitrator who has mediated hundreds of disputes, and served as a judge for Summary Jury Trials. After running his own firm for several years, Pogue joined his friend and colleague Sean Wilson at the Law Office of Sean M. Wilson, where they focus on injury and wrongful death litigation, as well as mediation.

He has tried dozens of cases to verdict involving a wide range of civil claims, as both defense and Plaintiff’s counsel. He’s been recognized as one of South Carolina Super Lawyers’ “Rising Stars” and served in the South Carolina Bar Association’s House of Delegates from 2016 to 2022.

Pogue prioritizes the School of Law’s mantra of “Pro Bono Populi” in working for the good of his community. He is currently a Board Member for the Mediation and Meeting Center of Charleston, and Lowcountry Youth Services; and is a former board member of Trident Literacy, East Cooper Faith Network, and East Cooper Meals on Wheels.

Pogue is a class of 2009 alum of the Charleston School of Law, where he served on the Honor Council, in the Student Bar Association, and was named to the Forensic Club.

He was the first President of the Charleston School of Law Alumni Association. Pogue volunteers in community advocacy efforts on gun violence reduction, racial and cultural equity, and flooding resilience among other things. He is also part of the North Charleston Police Department’s R.E.C.A.P. team (Rebuilding Every Community Around Peace).

Before beginning his career in law, Pogue was a top-rated broadcast meteorologist for nearly a decade. He was the on-air morning meteorologist for the NBC affiliate in Charleston, and then in Charlotte.

In the wake of Hurricane Katrina’s devastating impact in 2005, Ben took a break from meteorology to volunteer with the American Red Cross relief effort, running a shelter in Texas. When he returned to Charleston, he decided to leave television behind permanently, and to serve others by practicing law.
