Stewart to speak Oct. 8 on Johnson book

Renowned trial lawyer David O. Stewart will speak 7 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Holliday Alumni Center at The Citadel on his latest book, Impeached:  The Trial of President Andrew Johnson and the Fight for Lincoln's Legacy.

Stewart, who has defended accused criminals and challenged the constitutionality of government action in his 25-year legal career, also is author of the bestseller, The Summer of 1787:  The Men Who Invented the Constitution

Stewart clerked for Justice Lewis Powell and for eminent judges J. Skelly Wright and David Bazelon.  He also was lead defense counsel in the Senate impeachment trial of Judge Walter L. Nixon Jr.
