Law school attracts top legal speakers for fall series

SEPT. 2, 2009 -- The Charleston School of Law's Fall 2009 Professionalism Speaker Series kicks off next week with a talk from U.S. District Judge P. Michael Duffy on how lawyers can be more professional in their careers.

The school hosts several outstanding speakers every semester to provide students with practical information on law as a profession. The media are invited to cover any of the presentations, but are asked to contact the school's press office in advance. Here is the full schedule of the school's fall speaker series:

Sept. 10, 2009, noon: "Professionalism from the Bench," The Hon. P. Michael Duffy. Location: The Charleston Museum, 360 Meeting St.

Sept. 22, 2009, 5 p.m.: "Professionalism and the Organized Bar, " panel discussion with Carol B. Ervin, Young Clement Rivers, LLP; Natalie Bluestein, Bluestein & Douglas, L.L.P; Coming B. Gibbs, Jr., Gibbs & Holmes PC; and John A. Massalon, Wills & Massalon, L.L.C. Location: The Charleston Museum, 360 Meeting St.

Oct. 5, 2009, 4:30 p.m.: "Effective Communication on the Trial and Appellate Levels," The Hon. William B. Traxler and the Hon. William W. Wilkins. Location: The Charleston Music Hall, 37 John St.

Oct. 6, 2009, noon: "Professionalism Issues in Corporate and High Stakes Litigation," William S. Ohlemeyer, Boies, Schiller & Flexner and David Bernick, Kirkland and Ellis. Location: The Charleston Museum, 360 Meeting St.

Oct. 22, 2009, 5 p.m.: "Practical Professionalism - Issues Charleston School of Law Alumni Have Encountered," Samia H. Hanafi, Pritchard & Elliot, LLC; Catherine H. McElveen, Richardson, Patrick, Westbrook & Brickman, LLC; Barbara J. Wagner, Ph.D., Barnwell Whaley Patterson & Helms, LLC; and Jeffrey J. Yungman, Crisis Ministries Homeless Justice Project.
