Vargas-Vargas to join law school in fall
JULY 27, 2009 - - Educator Geiza Vargas-Vargas will join the Charleston School of Law faculty in the fall as an assistant professor who will teach contracts and corporate law, Dean Andy Abrams announced today.
"With her outstanding corporate law and business experience, Professor Vargas-Vargas is a great addition to our full-time faculty," Abrams said. "Her accomplishments as a business advisor and corporate attorney will make her an exemplary member of the area's academic community."
Since 2007, Vargas-Vargas has served in private practice as an advisor to several investment, financial and management firms. She also has worked with small business-startups and nonprofits in New York. She also has three years of experience in corporate law as an associate with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in New York. In her career, she has worked on more than $4 billion of deals involving mergers and acquisitions, more than $6 billion of structured finance transactions and $2 billion of real estate transactions.
She holds a law degree from Boston College Law School in 2004 and a bachelor's degree from Wellesley College.
At the Charleston School of Law, she will teach Contracts and Business Associations.
