Victor joins law school faculty
AUG. 5, 2009 - - Educator Aurore Y. Victor will join the Charleston School of Law faculty in the fall as an assistant professor, Dean Andy Abrams announced today. She will teach Contracts and Professional Responsibility.
"We're delighted to have a lawyer of Professor Victor's stature to join our faculty this fall," Abrams said. "With her teaching and academic experience, she will serve our students as an outstanding resource for learning the law."
In 1998, Victor received the Robert Masur Fellowship in Civil Liberties when she was studying law at Harvard Law School, from which she received her law degree in 2000. She also holds a bachelor's degree from Yale University.
In 2001-02, Victor clerked with U.S. District Court Judge Alan S. Gold in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. During the clerkship, she worked on complex civil cases involving discrimination, securities, voting rights and other legal issues. Following the clerkship, she worked at a litigation associate for law firms in Miami.
In 2005, she joined the faculty of Florida International University College of Law in Miami as an assistant professor of legal skills and values. Most recently, she served as a visiting professor at DePaul University College of Law in Chicago.
