HOLIDAY GIFTS
Second-year student Evan Watson hoists one
of more than 30 new bikes that are holiday gifts for
elementary students at a nearby school. Members of the
Black Law Students Association and the Children's Law
& Family Rights Society collected more than 1,200
gifts that were delivered by Santa, Charleston fire-fighters
and students on Dec. 11.

WILKINS SPEAKS AT CSOL
Chief Judge William W. Wilkins of the U.S.
Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit on Sept. 14
delivered a major speech on legal, political and social
implications of the death penalty in modern society.

MENTORING
As
part of the Technology Law Societys Reverse
Mentoring Program, student Barbara Holmes shows

students with local attorneys who would like some basic
computer training, and will be implemented in the Fall

SCHOLARSHIP WINNER
Second-year
student Sabrina Williams, center, in April won a $1,000
scholarship from the National Association of Women Judges
during a program sponsored by the NAWJ and Black Law
Student Association. The NAWJ's "Color of Justice"
program seeks to encourage girls and minority high school
students to consider pursuing careers in the law and

MOOT
COURT TRIP
The Charleston School of Law sent two teams in early March
to Columbia University in New York to participate in an
American Constitution Society moot court competition.

SCTLA AWARD
The S.C. Trial Lawyers Association presented a $5,000
check to the school's foundation recently. Pictured
above are SCTLA Executive Director Linda Franklin, SCTLA
President Gerald Malloy, S.C. Circuit Judge Casey Manning
and Dean Richard Gershon. The award came from funds
left over from a portrait of Manning commissioned by
SCTLA.
