After 10 years of judicial clerkships, Brock Collins joined the faculty in 2006 to teach legal research, analysis and writing to first-year students. He was named the school's first Director of Academic Success in 2009. In 2011, Collins became the Director of Bar Preparation.
Prior to teaching at the school, Collins served as career clerk to Senior U.S. District Judge Sol Blatt Jr. in Charleston. He also clerked for U.S. District Judge C. Weston Houck in Florence, S.C., and U.S. District Judge Joseph McKinley Jr. in Owensboro, Kentucky. Collins served as Notes Editor of the Kentucky Law Journal while he was a student at the University of Kentucky College of Law.
