Geiza Vargas-Vargas joined the Charleston School of Law Faculty in Fall 2009. She brings a wealth of corporate law and business experience.
Vargas-Vargas has served as a business advisor to a boutique investment and financial services firm focused on international ventures. She also worked with small business-startups and nonprofits in New York. She has three years of experience in corporate law as an associate with the New York law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, where she practiced structured finance. Prior to law school, Vargas-Vargas was focused on commercial real estate acquisitions. In her career, she has closed more than $4 billion of deals involving mergers and acquisitions, more than $6 billion of structured finance transactions and $2 billion of real estate transactions.
Vargas-Vargas’s research interest is largely interdisciplinary, combining her passion for finance and capital markets (international and domestic) with social science, political theory and critical legal theory.
