Find out what current and former students have to say about
their experiences at Charleston School of Law:
Sarah Smith, Class of 2010
"Making the choice to attend Charleston School of Law
was one of the best choices I made in my life. As an entering
student, I had many preconceived notions on law school such
as it being an unfriendly, intense atmosphere. But I am glad
to say that all my notions were inaccurate.

"The most soothing quality about the school is that the
faculty and staff are very warm and approachable. My professors
are very encouraging, and they spend as much time inside and
outside the classroom to assist you with your work. Also, the
friendliness extends to the student body. The 2Ls and 3Ls are
always willing to give advice and help you with your studies.
Thus far, I am overly impressed with the education I am receiving
at the Charleston School of Law. I encourage those who are interested
to visit the school so you to can be a believer."
Bhumi Patel, Class of 2008
"The atmosphere at this law school is probably unlike
any other. We all know that some day we will be practicing as
opposing counsel to each other and we will compete with each
other for jobs each day. However, this does not effect our close-knit
relationship with each other. This not only includes the student
body, but also the faculty members. We have a complete open-door
policy with professors and students. I have never heard of any
professor turning a student away from their door. In fact, the
Faculty Award is always the toughest on students -- there are
always a few professors that are highly voted for and, of course,
to our disappointment only one can win the award each year.

"Although I may be one of a handful of Asian Americans
at the school, I have never felt affected by being a minority
among many minorities. If I have been affected, it has only
been in a positive way - inquisitive questions about my culture
and beliefs. I am not sure how things would be if I attended
another law school, but I would not change places with anyone.
I feel very comfortable and appreciated at Charleston School
of Law and would recommend this school of anyone that likes
down-to-earth, open-minded, and sincere people."
Marcus Brown, Class of 2007
"My name is Marcus Brown and I graduated from the Charleston
School of Law (CSOL) in May 2007. I feel I made the right choice
by deciding to attend law school. It is a place where your ideas
can take on an entirely new meaning.

"Prior to attending CSOL, my experiences had been quite
non-traditional. I pursued my undergraduate degree in International
Business Management while living in Germany for two years. I
then moved to London to finish my studies. Upon completion,
I returned to my roots in South Carolina. I was fortunately
accepted at an institution that could foster my professional
development as I sought to become a lawyer. CSOL encouraged
setting career goals, not letting time get underneath you when
you have deadlines to meet, and insisted on paying careful attention
to those who have traveled the path before. As an initial part-time
student, I had to work two part-time jobs and then onto a full-time
job during much of my law school studies. However, I truly found
merit in Thomas Edison's ratio applied to accomplishing your
vision --1 percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration.
"The faculty, staff, and administration of CSOL have consistently
been helpful. The school is home to impressive scholars and
practitioners. They are all extremely committed to helping you
achieve your overall development. If provided the opportunity,
you will be empowered to contribute South Carolina's developing
history and the nation's jurisprudence. One only needs determination.
As a fortunate member of CSOL's first graduating class, completion
of my J.D. studies enabled me to capitalize on my strong urge
to learn about the practice of Intellectual Property. Currently,
I am living in New York and pursuing an LL.M degree in Intellectual
Property. This matriculation serves as a specialization in a
rapidly growing area of the law. "
