A Carolina moon hanging over Charleston harbor and magnolias in the famous Charleston gardens attract thousands of tourists annually. But Charleston's rich history, beauty and charm blend with a vigorous commercial and industrial climate that makes the 540,000-person metropolitan area a great place for learning.

Diverse economy. The area's economic mix is diverse. It combines an annual $4 billion visitor industry, one of the Southeast's most impressive medical research and care complexes, a base of national and international manufacturers, a large military presence and the largest containerized cargo port on the South Atlantic and Gulf coasts.

Legal heritage. From signers of the Constitution to the most powerful plaintiff's law firms in the country, Charleston is also home to a legal community with a heritage and professional reputation found in few places.

Legal opportunities. The Four Corners of Law, home to local, state and federal courthouses, offers students an array of legal opportunities within several blocks of campus. More than 250 legal businesses present meaningful opportunities for students to work closely in outreach efforts with the Charleston legal community.

Cultural amenities. Culture thrives within the historic city of Charleston. Spoleto Festival USA, an internationally-renowned art festival of opera, dance, music and theater, draws more than 85,000 people to the city annually. It's been called, "one of the best art festivals in the country, if not the world." Art galleries, music halls and historic theaters also dapple the Charleston landscape.

Great climate. For outdoor activity, there is no better place than Charleston. An average temperature of 65.6 degrees provides students with perfect year-round weather for outdoor activities from golfing, boating and jogging around the peninsula to relaxing on one of the area's five pristine beaches.

Lots to do. Entertainment options within the City abound. Charleston's professional baseball, hockey, arena football and soccer teams, not to mention the highly regarded College of Charleston basketball team and Citadel baseball team, offer enticing options to sports enthusiasts. The Charleston Museum and newly-opened South Carolina Aquarium exhibit the rich history and landscape that make Charleston the unique and historical city that it is. Shopping down palmetto-lined King Street, indulging in world-class dining and experiencing Charleston's vibrant nightlife round out the lengthy list of entertainment attractions in the City.

Great quality of life. The Charleston lifestyle, complemented by an abundance of beautiful weather, lovely beaches and waterways, a bounty of diverse cultural options, numerous educational opportunities and an array of sports and other pastimes, makes Charleston the ideal city to enhance a legal education.
