3/3/14: Team wins the ABA's Regional Moot Court Competition

Release Date: 3/3/2014

The Charleston School of Law sent two teams to Washington D.C. this past weekend to compete in the American Bar Association’s Regional Moot Court Competition.  The first team, Leslie Boodry, Virginia Rogers and Ivey Blair performed well, but were eliminated in the third round of play.  The second team comprised of John Leininger, Daniel Cooper and Lee Willard were awarded Best Brief and went undefeated through all five rounds.

As a result, the undefeated team will advance to the ABA's National Finals in Chicago in April.

"Both teams performed very well. All that hard work, dedication, and time spent preparing paid off,” said Daniel Cooper, third-year student.

There were 36 teams at the regional competition, and only four teams advanced to the National Competition.

Last year, the two teams from the Charleston School of Law tied for Best Brief. “We have a tradition of winning that award in D.C., ” said Cooper.

The team was coached by Professor Jon Marcantel.
